Role Play

I overheard Jersey #3 and Jersey #4 role playing "house" together the other day, and I just had to take their picture and capture such cuteness.

Jersey #3 was the "Dad" and he was getting his family all packed up and ready for a road trip...
When we take road trips, we have the kids pack a backpack full of toys, books, and things to entertain themselves. (Those rolling backpacks with the handle are nice because the kids can reach down and pull the bag back up into their laps, after it has fallen on the van floor). Jersey #3 had carefully packed a backpack for each of his stuffed children.

Jersey #4 was the "Mom" and she was taking care of the baby....laying in bed, soothing her baby to sleep.

I thought it was so cute to see the kids imitate with their stuffed animals, the way that we care for them. I also found it very amusing that they had 6 older children, and 1 baby. I did not realize that children from larger families tend to play house with larger families. That cracks me up.

To add to the entertainment, Jersey #1 was playing the role of the teenager in their family. She refused to cooperate for me to capture her picture. She also complained about their destination. She really captured a teenager attitude. Yikes.

When they were ready for their trip, our couch served as their van. Jersey #3 explained that he needed a really big van to drive "all these kids."

I'm pretty sure the "all these kids" line is a direct quote repeatedly spoken by The Referee!

  1. I love how the stuffed animals have the backpacks on, although the duck doesn't seem to comfortable :) And Jersey #1 as a teenager - that is just hilarious! Hopefully she doesn't get to that age too quickly though.
