Lil' Actresses

Considering that The Referee and I are both nerdy, scientific folk by nature, he is excited to think they might get a double dose of a love of science and math. I often tease him that our children will turn out to be Art or History folk, just to rebel against us.

Our older two daughters are on their way to making my joke come true.

They have been taking an American History class this school year, at a friend's house. The class began as a history and writing class, but quickly diverted to including a play this Spring semester. The play was based on the American Girl, Felicity.

Not only is Jersey #1 completely enamored with all things American Girl these days, but she also received the Felicity doll and book series this past Christmas. To add to her delight, she was cast in the starring role, as Felicity in the play.
Jersey #2 was cast as Nan, Felicity's younger sister.

The play was a lot of fun. The girls really enjoyed wearing the costumes, rehearsing, and putting on the show for the parents.

I had absolutely no idea that my shy, Jersey #1 would embrace the spotlight like this. She is already asking for me to find a drama class or such activity for the summer or next school year. Jersey #2 is on her heels, wanting to be part of a play or drama class as well.

Where did these little actresses come from? I'm pretty sure acting skills are not in our gene pool.
