Jersey #2's cardiology appointment went very well. I took in my bulleted, typed, list of questions for the doctor. She said I was her most organized parent. She took my list and went over every single point of concern. She is great like that.
There was so much information passed to us during that visit, that my head is still spinning this morning, trying to process it all.
This appointment started the surgical time line. The next step is for the cardiology nurse to send a letter to our medical insurance company, explaining the need for surgery, and requesting pre-authorization to pay for it. She anticipates she will hear back from them by early next week. She does not anticipate any challenges to securing insurance authorization, thankfully. It still troubles me that my daughter's health is turned into a business decision, as far as the insurance company is concerned. Considering they approved the first surgery which saved her life, I pray they approve this surgery just as easily.
As soon as she has pre-authorization from the insurance company, she can schedule the surgery at the Children's Hospital. So, in about a week, we should know the surgery date.
On the way to the hospital yesterday, we bumped into a friend from church. He drives the shuttle from the parking lot to the hospital, so he gave us a ride. It is nice to see a cheerful face, especially when we are feeling stressed.

We took Jersey #1 with us to the appointment so that Jersey #2 would have a friend to play with in the waiting area while we spoke with the doctor about some of the more serious topics. Jersey #2 liked being able to show her sister how everything goes during her cardiology appointments.
