Today is the day that Jersey #2 has an appointment with her cardiologist. This is the day that starts the surgery time line. Please pray for us. We are overwhelmed with emotions.
Our biggest fear is losing her.
I keep reminding myself that there are many, many other risks in life that can take our life. There are no guarantees. Our time on Earth is short. It is a just a dot in the midst of eternity. Open-heart surgery is a risky situation. But, it isn't the only risky situation Jersey #2 experiences. Driving in a car, for example, can also be fatal, yet we do that daily.
For some reason, facing the surgery causes us to face mortality and our lack of control over our lives and our children's lives. The emotions that accompany the thoughts are strong and overwhelming.
Thankfully, I know Gods hands are carrying us through this. He has been taking care of every detail, and blessing us abundantly already. Our church has rallied around us. They hold us up when we are not strong enough to stand. They are providing the things we need....prayers, travel expenses, and gifts for Jersey #2 to take with her. Our extended family has rallied around us with their prayers and plans to care for our healthy children, so that we may focus on Jersey #2. My Mom has brainstormed the perfect gifts for Jersey #2 to help her have a positive focus every step of her recovery process. Our friends are rallied around us with thoughts, prayers, and encouragement.
It is very clear to me that we are not going through this trial alone.
A comment was made during Sunday school this week that really struck me.
Thank you to everyone who is holding our hands and walking this course along with us. Please continue to pull us back up every time our knees buckle.

We WALK through the shadow of the valley of death......we are not asked to stop and live there.
