We were driving down the road the other day, when I overheard my oldest 2 daughters having a conversation with one of their friends. They were talking about best friends, and each was trying to describe their best friend in a way that the other would know who they were talking about. Jersey #1 names a friend and describes her by saying, "she just got a new baby sister!"
I laughed at the way she described receiving a new baby into the family, as if her friend received a birthday or Christmas present. As if we could just buy one of those baby sisters at the store.
Last night, while the entire family was driving home together, the older 3 children were engaged in a conversation that included naming all of their friends and cousins who have recently been blessed with baby sisters or baby brothers, and those who will soon be blessed with babies in their families.
With a tone that implied she was feeling quite slighted, Jersey #1 demanded, "HEY! WHERE'S OUR NEW BABY?"

Did you tell her to take that up with her dad?
