Happy Anniversary

We have been married for 12 years....

We celebrated our anniversary in a variety of meaningful ways.

We purchased ourselves Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University home study kit. We shredded our credit cards and vowed to live debt free and within our means almost a year ago. We are hoping that the FPU class will help us learn even more about managing our finances better.

We rolled up our sleeves and worked on a "frugal" kitchen remodel project that included repainting the walls and cabinets, and re-tiling the floor.

We took our friends (who also happen to be our Pastor and his wife) out to dinner last night. We wanted to thank them for all of their help over the past few years. They have both intervened on behalf of our marriage, and mentored us to conquer the challenges. I firmly believe that their willingness to speak up to remind us of God's design for marriage, and the responsibilities of husbands and wives, in such a loving way, is one of the biggest reasons we are able to celebrate our anniversary this year. Their suggestion that we consider a visit to the doctor, instead of a visit to the lawyer was pivotal. When a spouse is suffering with depression, it can destroy a marriage. Thankfully, that biological challenge is easy to treat. Good friends are ones who will speak up when they see the warning signs. I am forever grateful to them both. This year was one of the happiest anniversaries we have ever celebrated, because we have hope for a brighter future together.

Since our Wedding Anniversary also falls on the 4th of July holiday, we enjoyed a church picnic and fireworks too.

There was lots of food....

Water fun on the slip-n-slide...

and FIRE....I mean, fireworks!
Well, actually, we saw a real fire too. Some other folks in the neighborhood accidentally set some weeds on fire with their fireworks display. Thankfully, they had a hose nearby and put out the flames quickly. We were able to see most of the fireworks displays from around the entire city. It seems that this year was one of the best displays ever.

Happy Anniversary to US!

Happy 4th of July to all!
