Meet PawPaw & Granny

Here they are--my parents.
They are now commonly know as Granny & PawPaw.

Granny is from the South, and "Granny" is what grandmas are called in the South. "PawPaw" was given his name when Jersey #1 was a young toddler (she is their first live-born grandchild). That was her version of Grandpa, and it stuck. It fits him.

I am convinced that these are not the same people who raised me. Nope. Something dramatically changed in both of them when they became grandparents. The rules changed, the menu changed, and the things that make them laugh changed. My parents LOVE being grandparents. They say that is their reward for putting in the time, effort, and dedication when they were parents. They delight in their grandchildren. Their grandchildren are convinced that they are magical people, and their home is a magical wonderland!

They bought some untouched land in the middle of no where, as their nest was emptying-out. Their plan was to mold the land into their retirement haven. It has been over a decade later, and their homestead is gorgeous. As grandbabies started to arrive into the family, Granny & PawPaw made a point to add new "toys" that the grandchildren will enjoy when they visit. Sometimes we wonder if these are really PawPaw's toys, as he gets so excited to show them to the grandkids and watch them play. Granny overstocks a "junk food" cabinet and also lets the grandkids have a can of soda pop each day. It is a magical place....

Jersey #5 is amazed that sugar flows so readily at Granny & Paw Paw's House....

I can still beat The Referee at a game of Tether-ball
(those awesome serving skills from high school volleyball have not left me yet!)

An outdoor swing for the babies--serves as a fun place to eat chocolate pudding too...

A horn attached to the top of the ladder-to-no-where...
(This ladder is from our childhood swingset)

Bunnies!!! PawPaw raises bunnies (their droppings are high in nitrogen for his garden)
[baby bunnies arrive when PawPaw forgets to lock the separate pens]

PawPaw's riding lawn mower with a wagon to pull the grandbabies around the land....

Battery-powered Quad Runner...

A swingset that can hold many grandkids at once....
(and the pond that was raised for safety)

The memorial garden....river rocks to honor loved-ones gone too soon
(stone benches, flowers, & trees surround the memorial area)

Over 2 tons of sand in this sandbox...

Battery-powered jeep...

Helping PawPaw dig potatoes in his garden....
(He also grows pumpkins for each of his grandbabies)

These comfy recliners have rocked many grandbabies to sleep.....

Swimming pools.....

Airplane Teeter-Totter...

Did I mention it was a magical place?
